RV Rental for Tuscarawas County Italian-American Festival in New Philadelphia, Ohio
Every August, when the smell of sausage and peppers starts drifting through Tuscora Park, I start getting the same question: can you set me up with an RV rental for the Tuscarawas County Italian-American Festival so I don’t have to drive home after a plate of homemade gnocchi and a couple bocce matches? The honest answer is yes — and parking right is the trick, because Tuscora Park itself is day-use, with the lake, the carousel, and that 1968 Allan Herschell train running all weekend, but there’s no overnight RV camping inside the park gates. So we deliver your rig to a campground nearby and you shuttle in. I do this run from the New Philadelphia area every summer, and I’ve learned exactly which spots make the festival weekend easy.
I’m Tim, your local Fireside RV Rental owner here in the Tuscarawas Valley. I deliver and set up RVs across New Philadelphia, Dover, Sugarcreek, and the lake parks every week — so I’m not pulling this off a map. Call or text me at 330-440-2429 or email [email protected] and we’ll sort out your festival weekend.
Why an RV Beats Driving Home From the Festival
The festival pulls in folks from all over Stark, Holmes, Carroll, and Coshocton counties, plus a lot of family coming back into town for it. Tuscora Park is right off the south side of New Philadelphia, easy to reach from Interstate 77 and U.S. Route 250. The problem isn’t getting there — it’s where everybody sleeps once the music’s still going and nobody wants to give up their picnic table. A delivered RV solves that. You’ve got your own bathroom, air conditioning for a sticky August evening, a place for the kids to nap between the rides and the pasta, and a real bed close to the action instead of an hour’s drive each way.
Where I Park Your RV for the Festival
Since you can’t camp at Tuscora Park, here’s where I actually send people for festival weekend, with real reasons for each:
- Schoenbrunn Village Campground — closest to town and to the park, which is why it’s my first call for festival-goers who want a short hop in and out. It books up fast in August, so reserve early.
- Tappan Lake Park Campground — east on U.S. 250, a beautiful lake setting if you want to make a real weekend of it and don’t mind the 20-minute-plus drive in to the festival. Good for bigger groups.
- Atwood Lake Park Campground — up toward Carroll County. Same idea as Tappan: more of a destination, great for families who want lake time around the festival days.
- Whispering Hills RV Park & Campground — out toward Holmes County and Amish Country, handy if you’re combining the festival with a Sugarcreek and Walnut Creek trip.
If you’ve got a private spot in mind — a family property, a church lot, a driveway in Dover or Strasburg — I can usually set up there too, as long as there’s level ground and room to maneuver the trailer. Want more detail on local options? See our full campgrounds and RV parks guide.
How Delivery and Setup Works
You don’t tow anything and you don’t back anything into a tight loop — I handle that part. I deliver the RV to your campground or approved site before you arrive, level it, hook up power, water, and sewer where the site allows, and walk you through everything before I leave. When the festival’s over, I come back and haul it out. A note on those lake campgrounds: some of the back loops at Tappan and Atwood get tight and a little sloped, so I match the size of the rig to the site — I’d rather put a smaller, easy-to-place trailer on a snug spot than wrestle a big Class A into a corner. Full details are on our RV delivery page, and you can browse the fleet on our home page.
What August Weather Is Like Here
August in the Tuscarawas Valley runs warm and humid — afternoons in the 80s, muggy evenings, and the kind of pop-up thunderstorm that can roll through right in the middle of the festival. That’s exactly why I push people toward an RV instead of a tent: when a storm blows over Tuscora Park, you’ve got a dry, air-conditioned place to wait it out instead of packing up wet gear in the dark. Make sure whatever rig you rent has working A/C, and I always confirm that before delivery.
Frequently Asked Questions
Can I camp at Tuscora Park during the Italian-American Festival?
No — Tuscora Park is a day-use park with the lake, pool, rides, and festival grounds, but there’s no overnight RV camping inside. I deliver your rental to a nearby campground like Schoenbrunn Village, Tappan Lake, or Atwood Lake instead, and you drive the short distance into the festival.
How far in advance should I book an RV for the festival?
As early as you can. August is peak season at the local lake campgrounds and the closest spots fill up well before festival weekend. Reach out as soon as you know your dates and I’ll lock in both the rig and a good site.
Do you deliver outside New Philadelphia?
Yes. I deliver throughout Tuscarawas County and into Dover, Sugarcreek, Strasburg, Bolivar, Uhrichsville, and the surrounding lake areas, plus over toward Canton and Holmes County. If you’re flying in through Akron-Canton (CAK), I can have the RV set up and waiting so you skip the rental car and hotel hunt entirely.
What’s included with the RV?
Inclusions vary by unit, so contact me directly and I’ll tell you exactly what comes with the rig you’re looking at and what add-ons are available for your festival weekend.
